Causa Sui complete their long-evolving trilogy – begun with Euporie Tide (2013) and Return to Sky (2016) – with Vibraciones Doradas, a widescreen mini-LP that captures the band at the height of their powers. Across four sprawling tracks, they fuse Sabbath-esque weight with post-modern texture and shape-shifting improvisation. The result is heavy, hypnotic and deeply atmospheric.

Opening cut ‘The Drop’ propels a Bonham-style groove into Can-like freeform release before dissolving into waves of shoegaze guitar and drifting synth. The eleven-minute ‘El Fuego’ flows between Popol Vuh’s cosmic serenity and desert-rock propulsion, while the closing title track channels a sludge-laden energy worthy of Sonic Youth’s most unhinged moments. Between them, the brief ‘Viborera’ and expansive ‘Seven Hills’ bridge moments of raw power with calm introspection.

Drawing on the members’ wide-ranging backgrounds in drone, improvisation, and experimental electronics, Causa Sui remain impossible to categorise – a group equally capable of thunderous force and delicate restraint. Vibraciones Doradas stands as their most focused and complete statement yet.
