Daufødt - Glitter

As one of the most sonically challenging and visually unique bands of their generation, Daufodt swept the floor of the underground with their debut 1000 Island and won in 2021 a Norwegian Grammy in the Rock category.

They could easily become the next big name in rock but instead the Daufodt-gang circled back to the underground, hooked up with Lasse Marhaug (associated SunnO))) member and recent producer of Jenny Hval and Thurston Moore) and recorded Aromaterapi (2022) with him. Marhaug challenged the band on all levels and pumped them into an absolute sonic mayhem-mode, giving associations to similar noise rock mongers as Napalm Death, The Swans, The Body, Arabrot and Sonic Youth. Likewise, the scorning lyrics of the debut that made local billionaires spam singer Annika with self-righteous messengers has been sharpened into something even more destructive and dangerous.

Where Aromaterapi was a violent and experimental release, Glitter has a punchier and more direct sound. The album spans from radio-friendly alternative rock hits and minute-long punk songs to epic noise rock jams; evidence of a band in constant evolution.

Daufodt’s third album still has the signature mix of catchy rock with extreme noise elements but is more refined than ever - recognizable, but unpredictable. Glitter is catchy, brutal music for the end of the world. Daufodt’s assessment of 2024 from a young adult’s perspective - desperate cries about the end time, while watching videos of cute dogs. Glitter is the sound of being hit by a brick, but in a way that makes you look forward to the next blow.
